Both will help you determine the best career fit for you, however they operate on totally different principals. Depending on your situation, one test may work better for you than the other.

During World War II, Myers and Briggs took the basic theory of personality types developed by Carl Jung and built a test that would accurately determine an individual's personality type.

Since then, over 50 million people around the world have taken the official test in over 30 different languages.

What do you think the original purpose of the personality test was?

Oddly enough, Myers and Briggs developed the test in order to help people decide what types of work they would be good at. No kidding. This personality test was developed with careers in mind.

During WWII, there was a tremendous need to place women into jobs vacated by the men who went off to fight the war. Then after the war there was a need to place returning soldiers into work they could be successful at.

Thus the original purpose of Myers and Briggs was indeed career oriented.

Mapping Personality Type to Careers

Myers and Briggs were able to map personality type to careers by studying the personality types of people who had careers they enjoyed and were successful in.

Myers and Briggs managed to give the test to enough people to build a statistically valid model. Since then the work of matching Type to Careers has continued.

At CareerPlanner we have been trained and licensed to offer and interpret the official Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) as it is called.

However, we have determined that most folks on the internet who could benefit from the Myers-Briggs technology are not willing to pay the price of the official MBTI which used to be over $100, but now costs $60 or so.

After 5 years of research, we now offer our own version of the test which will give you your 4 letter personality type.

We offer this test for free.

However since we do have to earn a living, we charge for the individual career reports.

The 16 Personality Types

There are 16 unique personality types in this system. Each type has it's own list of preferred careers as well as careers that should be avoided.

You can take our Personality Test for free. Afterwards you will be given the opportunity to purchase the Personality Career Report for your Personality Type.

You may purchase the Personality Career Report for a single personality type, however many people prefer to compare the careers for two or three different personality types. Thus we offer a 3 Report Package Deal.

How to Access Your Report

To get your report, after placing an order, just sign in on our home page. Then click on "Members Menu." Then, click on the menu choice "see your personality test results and reports..."

After you purchase the report, when you go to download it, you will be asked for your 4 letter personality type.

You can then print the report.

As a convenience to you, we will keep your test results on file forever so that you can come back at any time to view your results. We have clients come back after 10 years looking for their reports. We still have them.
